Introduction to Iver, England
The small parish of Iver lies on the M25 motorway in southwest Buckinghamshire, on the edge of Uxbridge, and is home to around 10,000 inhabitants, many of whom commute the 30kms to London on a daily basis. Iver comprises the villages of Iver Heath and Iver, with Ritchings Park set to the south. The settlement was registered in the Domesday Book and was a market town by the 14th century. It is known in present times for its famous Pinewood Film Studios, at which many classic British movies were made. The pretty village holds many 16th and 17th century buildings as well as St Peter's Church, mainly built in the 15th century but with fragments of Saxon stone carving. Iver's closeness to Heathrow Airport attracts overnighters to Iver hotels as an alternative to staying in chain accommodation adjacent to the airport. The village is also a good base for touring the pretty countryside of Buckinghamshire as well as taking daytrips to London for shopping or West End shows. other spellings: vierhotels, veir otel, viel hotell, veil hotell, iver hote, iver hotle, ivre hotes
