Introduction to Immingham, England
The North Sea port of Immingham is one of the busiest freight terminals along the English coastline, with regular container ship sailings to major European ports. Located in northeast Lincolnshire, 10kms to the north of Grimsby, the town lies on the A1173, just off the A180, with its medieval heart set in its northwestern outskirts. Immingham is famous as one of the departure ports in 1608 for a ship carrying the Pilgrim Fathers to the new world of America via Plymouth, with an inscribed memorial stone in the town documenting the event. Continuing its maritime links, the port was a WWI submarine base and Lord Mountbatten's shore base during WWII. Immingham hotels provide comfortable accommodation for travellers on both business and leisure, with tow set at the southern end of the Immingham Golf Club and several more closer to the extensive dock area. The older part of town holds charming rows of terraced cottages and quaint pubs, with several mansions at the edge of town converted to hotels. other spellings: imminghmahotels, otelin immingahm, imminhgam hotell, immignham hote
