Introduction to High Wycombe, England
High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire is conveniently located close to London and the M40 motorway. Its hilly terrain was home to Britain’s the longest dry ski slope but it was badly damaged by fire in 2005 and is being rebuilt as a real snow ski facility. There is a small choice of guest houses and hotels in High Wycombe with some being handily placed close to the Wycombe Swan Theatre that shows a varied programme of entertainment. The Cressex area is popular for leisure pursuits with a multi-screen cinema, badminton centre, Astroturf pitch and sports centre. This is also the location of one of the chain hotels in High Wycombe and a large John Lewis store. Recent development has given the town one of the country’s biggest shopping centres. The town centre has many good places to eat though many visitors opt to drive from their High Wycombe hotels to local country pubs in the surrounding villages who serve good food.
