Introduction to Hayling Island, England
Hayling Island is an islet located off of England's southern coastline. It is part of the county of Hampshire and is connected to the mainland by a road bridge as well as a ferry service. Oyster fishing has been a major industry on the island since the pinnacle of the Roman Empire. Now, because of the island's location, it is a popular tourist destination for English travellers. As a result, Hayling Island hotels are very easy to find, although reservations are advised. The island is famous for its windsurfing, sailing and other water sports. Its main beach was once a golden sandy strip, but unfortunately, due to dredging and dumping activities, it has somewhat lost its appeal. Nevertheless, it still attracts its fair share of visitors. The easiest transportation option to reach Hayling Island is by ferry from Portsmouth. Some of the most frequented sites on the island include Funland, the Kench, St Mary's Church, Sparkes Yacht Harbour and the Northey Marina.
