Introduction to Faringdon, England
Faringdon is located in Oxfordshire on the edge of the Thames Valley and is filled with many attractions and interesting places to see. In addition, it is midway between the city of Oxford and the large town of Swindon, making it extremely accessible by air, train and bus via Oxford. Originally a mill and manor, this historic town was listed in the Doomsday Book and is well known for the much-visited Folly Hill, which has fantastic views of the old road leading to Oxford from the Folly Tower. The stunning manor Faringdon House dates back to 1785 and is not to be missed, although the interior is closed to the public. Visitors can still stroll around the grounds and gaze at the dyed pigeons. Faringdon hotels vary from mid-range to luxurious bed and breakfasts and a wide range of eateries present cuisine from all over the world.
