Introduction to Emsworth, England
The Hampshire coastal town of Emsworth is close to Portsmouth but even closer to the harbour at Chichester. This sailing haven has catered for yachts and sailing vessels for centuries, and this century is no exception. In all there are six yachting clubs along the shores of Langstone Harbour and the nautical paradise has three of them in Emsworth itself. To cater for the budding and the experienced yachtsmen there are several hotels in Emsworth and these range from the local pubs to character quayside properties. Getting to the region is easy by rail from London or by car on the M27 motorway. Apart from the clear links to the sailing fraternity, the town is well known as the place to go for the Food Festival. There's one pub in town that boasts 50 different types of sausage, so that's worth a visit. The town has a very typical coastal village square, and on the outskirts there are landmarks which mostly relate to the sea. A real treat is the Mary Rose Museum in nearby Portsmouth Harbour.
