Introduction to Edenbridge, England
The picturesque little Kent town of Edenbridge lies up against the county border with Surrey on the River Medway's flood plain and is home to around 8,000 inhabitants. The High Street in the medieval old part of town is lined with half-timbered homes and little shops, one of which contains the Eden Valley Museum, with its details of ancient times when the town was the centre of the Wealdon iron industry. All four of the town's mills erected over the centuries are still standing, but have been converted to other uses. The town's lovely 13th century church of St Peter and St Paul has a set of stained-glass windows designed by Edward Burne-Jones, famous during the late 19th century for his artistic contribution to the Art Nouveau movement. Edenbridge hotels are as charming as the town itself, set in old buildings including pubs and former mansions. Nearby are historic glories such as 13th century Hever Castle, the 17th century Squerryes Court and the fantasy castle and National Trust village of Chiddingstone as well as the natural beauty of the Weald of Kent. other spellings: edenbridgehotels, edembridge otel, edenbrideg hotell, edenbrigde hote, edenbrdig
