Introduction to Eastbourne, England
Although well known as a retirement destination and popular with coach parties, there are plenty of hotels in Eastbourne catering for all tastes. In Eastbourne visitors will find a 1930s bandstand, pensioners snoozing in deckchairs, exquisitely manicured seaside gardens, pebble coated beaches and a promenade curiously missing the noise from amusement arcades. For keen walkers the South Downs Way starts here and you can get as far as Winchester via the South Downs National Park. Cyclists can enjoy the Cuckoo Trail cycle path leasing from Eastbourne to Heathfield. Beachy Head is nearby allowing you to enjoy fantastic views from the 162m high chalk cliffs. The top quality Eastbourne hotels are to be found overlooking the sea and towards the western end of the front. Those on tighter budgets will find no end of bed and breakfast guest houses and there are many pleasant smaller hotels in Eastbourne close to the pier.
