Introduction to Derby - Castle Donington
An attractive mix of ancient and modern graced by timber-framed houses and elegant Georgian and Regency terraces, the village of Castle Donington is located within the Derby postcode area. Close to a national forest and East Midlands Airport, the village is well-known for its monthly farmers' market, medieval market on the May Bank Holiday and October Wakes travelling fair. Its best-known attraction, however, is Donington Park, famous as a hub for motor racing, rock festivals and its collection of Formula 1 Grand Prix racing cars the largest on the planet. Donington Park's racing circuit, formerly part of the Donington Hall stately home's grounds, has hosted championship car races since before WWII, but is best known as the former home of the Moto GP motorcycle championships.
