Introduction to Choppington, England
The English village of Choppington in Northumberland is close to the also attractive destinations of Morpeth and Bedlington. A few fun-loving pubs can be found here. Other highlights are the pristine Northumbrian coast and market town of Morpeth. A few kilometres away is Queen Elizabeth II Country Park. Also close by is the gatehouse of the ruined 14th century Morpeth Castle. Other Choppington landmarks are a clock-tower that dates to the 1600s, a fine town hall, the 13th century chapel now known as The Chantry and the stately Collingwood House. Newbiggin by the Sea and Druridge beaches make for excellent daytrips. Rustic inns, lodges and bed and breakfasts constitute the Choppington hotels scene. In the past Choppington, along with Ashington and Bomarsund, was one of the three big regional coalmines. This era can be appreciated in exhibits on coal mining at the Woodhorn Museum. A short drive away is Seaton Delaval Hall, a great example of an English Baroque house.
