Introduction to Chepstow, England
Set handsomely on the River Wye, not far from its confluence with the River Severn, is Chepstow in southeastern-most Wales. Also linked by road to other parts of the United Kingdom, Chepstow is served by the Severn Bridge's western end on the M48 motorway, 200kms west of London. Particularly grand, the town is home to Great Britain's oldest surviving stone castle. Also popular here is the Welsh Grand National, annually held at Chepstow Racecourse. Villages lying on the Wye's eastern bank, in England, are Tutshill and Sedbury. The storied Town Gate dates to the 1200s. Besides being a bustling seaport since medieval times, the town is a lively market hub. A part of the town known as Garden City, which was originally set aside for workers in the town's shipyards, is today home to approximately two-thirds of the town's residents. Chepstow hotels of all kinds await visitors. They pepper the town along with cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars.other spellings: chepstwohotels, otelin chepsotw, cheptsow hotell, chesptow hote, chpestow hotes
