Introduction to Chard, England
Somerset’s Chard sits on the A30, which provides great access to the rest of the region. Fore Street is home to many of the hotels in Chard, and there are a few pretty streams that run through the town. There is a nature reserve located close to the town and Snowdon Hill Quarry, once the site of hangings, attracts many science buffs. The town attracts a range of visitors, from walkers and families through to business travelers, and its cultural attractions are popular with history enthusiasts. The main high street is home to expensive shops including delis, furniture shops and antique stores. The impressive 11th century Church of St Mary the Virgin is a must-see, while the Chard Museum is a must-visit for its insight on John James Gillingham, a pioneer in prosthesis. For picnics, Chard Reservoir, to the northeast, is a delightful nature reserve where angling, dog walking and bird watching for herons ad kingfishers is possible.other spellings: chardhotels, otel chart, charred hotell, chald hote, chadr hotes, chrad hotle, cahrd
