Introduction to Buntingford, England
The small and historic market town of Buntingford lies on the River Rib and the Ermine Street Roman road in Hertfordshire. An important staging post in medieval and later times, it boasts many former coaching inns, medieval and Georgian buildings, and a traditional market square lined with quaint shops and homes. Due to its proximity to the A10 London road, the town has seen much development during the last 30 years or so, but the centre still presents visitors with a fascinating journey back through English history. The ancient Manor House on Market Hill is now used as the heritage centre, giving information on Buntingford's history as well as details of Buntingford hotels, many of which are located in heritage buildings and former coaching inns. England's great Queen Elizabeth I once stayed here at Bell House on her way to Cambridge, and the unique 17th century Puritan-style parish church, St Peter's, in one of few such in Britain. other spellings: buntingfordhotels, buntingford hotell, bantinfod hote, benting ford hotes, buntig ford
