Nestled in the English county of Lancaster, the town of Bolton boasts a rich Saxon heritage. While there are plenty of excellent Bolton hotels for visitors to choose from, many visitors prefer to stay in the town of Bury, which can be found just five miles to the east. Bury is famed as the home of a type of British sausage known as black pudding, while taking a ride on the East Lancashire Railway is a popular pastime here. This steam railway runs for some 12 miles, and taking a ride in one of the wooden carriages is the perfect way to see the surrounding countryside.
