Introduction to Blackpool - North Shore
For centuries, the beaches and boardwalks of Blackpool have been luring British holidaymakers in search of a rejuvenating dose of sea air. Though not as fashionable as it was in Victorian times, this relaxing festive beach town still offers a lot to see and do. The North Shore contains the largest and oldest of the city’s three historic beachside piers. The beach here is wide, flat and fun to play on. The Blackpool Tower rises up just to the south of this district, and the wonderful Promenade stretches all the way from the North Shore to the South Shore. The North Pier contains a theatre, a small shopping arcade and a tram to move around. Moving back from the beach, visitors will discover a densely packed street grid of shops, restaurants and bars catering to the throngs of tourists who flock to the sea every summer.
