Introduction to Blackpool - City Centre
For many, the centre of the UK city of Blackpool is the beach, but in reality Blackpool Central represents the area around Hornby Road, behind the Grand Theatre, a major venue for music, comedy and sports including darts. This theatre is one of the best places to catch a show in the city along with other destinations in the centre including the Opera House. Houndshill Shopping Centre is the only covered mall of its kind in Blackpool and the best place to pick up a host of products, from clothes to a cappuccino. The central area is in many ways a better option for eating and drinking because it avoids the rampant commercialism of the beachfront, meaning the quality is often better and the prices more reflective of what you're actually being served. Central hotels tend to be self-catering, apartment-style accommodation that is reasonably priced considering the location but upmarket fully-serviced and bed and breakfasts are also available.
