Introduction to Bexley, England
Bexley, a part of the Greater London area, lies to the southeast of central London. It is more of a suburban area than a city, and part of it still bears a resemblance to old style English villages, especially in the Old Bexley area. There are few hotels in Bexley, as it is mostly a residential area. The borough offers a quiet, rural alternative to London’s centre, yet visitors can easily travel into the capital for shopping and sightseeing by suburban railway (there are no London Underground links). St Mary’s Church, featuring an unusual pyramid-shaped spire, is perhaps the area’s most prominent landmark. Other landmarks include the stately home of Hall Place and the Grade I listed Danson House, built in the Georgian era and open to the public on designated days. The River Thames borders the borough to the north, with Greenwich bordering to the west.
