Introduction to Beccles, England
The pretty coastal county of Suffolk, in East Anglia, is home to a beautiful coastline and many historical and traditional towns and villages, including that of Beccles. It lies just to the south of 'the Broads', which is a lovely and popular area of lakes, rivers and rural land, and is known officially as the Norfolk Broads, though some areas are in Suffolk. Hotels in Beccles are mostly located in the northern areas of the town, which are closest to the protected areas of the Broads. Walkers of the River Waveney’s banks may enjoy stunning views as well as the offering of this fashionable and busy area of the town, with great restaurants and bars. Among the town’s most noteworthy landmarks are the octagonal Town Hall, built in the 18th century, and Beccles Museum, occupying a Grade I listed building. But perhaps the most loved building in town is St Michael’s church’s Gothic 16th century bell tower.
