Basingstoke hotels ensure that visitors have easy access, and in some cases great views, of the town’s attractions such as the grand Tudor palace, Basing House, now in ruins but with a very informative exhibition centre. Some Basingstoke hotels line the road to Silchester Roman Town, which is a couple of miles out of the town centre. This is a popular side trip out of Basingstoke as the Roman ruins are impressive. Many travellers enjoy the quietness here, as it is one of the most isolated and little-visited ruins in England. Cows roam the location. Nearby Wote Street presents the largest penis statue in the country and something less phallic is the L’Arc Sculpture in the town centre. Basingstoke hotels also offer easy access to Mike Reddaways Home, a popular local attraction, and the Chineham Wave display of 100 steel human figures, which never fails to draw a crowd.
