Introduction to Badminton, England
The Gloucestershire village of Badminton, home to Badminton House, the residence of the Duke of Beaufort, is famous for its annual horse trials, held in the great house's grounds every May. At the northern end of the village is charming Little Badminton, a tiny and ancient rural settlement created from Cotswold stone in the traditional Cotswold style and containing the ruins of a medieval sunken village. The magnificent late 17th century stately home of Badminton House is home to the Beaufort Hunt, one of the most famous in the country. Badminton hotels are full to overflowing during the three-day Badminton Horse Trials, attended by both international and domestic Olympic-standard riders and their horses. Both arena and cross-country events are featured, with the especially challenging cross-country course watched by as many as a quarter of a million spectators. The event includes a huge tented shopping village set up for the occasion as well as a wide choice of catering, including pubs and fast food outlets. other spellings: bahdmintunhotels, badminton otel, bahdmeignton hotell, badmeignton hote
