Introduction to Atherstone, England
Located in the geographical centre of England, in the West Midlands, Atherstone is a small town of just over 8,000 people. It is specifically located in the county of Warwickshire, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. A quaint town, Atherstone boasts a number of famous historical and natural sites and attractions. Among the most recognisable historic site within the town is Saint Mary’s Church, which dates back to the 12th century. Despite being such a small town, it boasts a few Atherstone hotels. Most tourist amenities can be found along Watling Street or near the large A5 road that passes near the town centre. For exercise, the town offers a leisure centre with a gym and a swimming pool. Football and rugby matches by local teams can also be observed. Visitors to the town on Shrove Tuesday can witness what is known as the 'Shrovetide Ball Game', a three-hour event in which few rules apply.other spellings: atherstonehotels, atherstoen hotell, athersotne hote, athertsone otel, ahterstone
