Introduction to Aldershot, England
Located approximately 60kms southwest of London, Aldershot boasts an array of sites and attractions. It is situated in the county of Hampshire, and houses a population of around 34,000. The town’s famous historical sites, including the Wellington Statue and the Aldershot Observatory, are located in the town centre. Also within the centre are Aldershot hotels, which can also be located along Farnborough Road and the A31 in the nearby town of Farnham. The main tourist site in the town is Aldershot Military Museum on Queens Avenue, which traces the town’s military past as well as the past of nearby Farnborough, the site of a major annual air show. Fans of military history may also benefit from a visit to the WWI Brookwood American Cemetery and Memorial, situated nine miles to the northeast of the town. Here visitors can pay their respects to the 468 US WWI soldiers laid to rest here and the 563 MIA persons whose names are listed in the on-site chapel.other spellings: aldershothotels, alderhsot hotell, aldesrhot hote, aldreshot otel, adlershot hotle
