Introduction to Alderley Edge, England
Alderley Edge is a town with two halves. The Edge refers to a dramatic sandstone rock uprising from the flat Cheshire Plain that forms one boundary of the village, which lies directly at the base of the Edge. This ancient village has a long and debatable history connected with witches and wizards but its Roman mining roots are well documented. Visitors can explore dozens of caves and ancient mine shafts that lead deep underground around Alderley Edge. The Edge is public land so there are several nice walking paths up and along the escarpment overlooking the Cheshire Plain. Historic buildings like Chorley Old Hall and Alderley Park Estate make nice excursions for those with a car. The village itself contains a few shops, pubs and restaurants, and has a surprisingly busy nightlife scene that lures London socialites. In fact, a large number of celebrities and professional footballers live in Alderley Edge, making it something of a trendy spot. A handful of traditional English inns provide decent Alderley Edge hotels for those wishing to linger. other spellings: alderley edgehotels, alderly edge hotell, adlerley egde otel, aderley edeg hote
