Introduction to Aldeburgh, England
Located in the beautiful east coast of England, in Suffolk, Aldeburgh is one of the most picturesque towns in the region. Situated right on the coast, this town of nearly 3,000 residents is a popular tourist destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Indeed, life in Aldeburgh runs a bit slower than in many towns and cities in the UK. Because it’s a busy tourist destination, it boasts a large collection of Aldeburgh hotels, which can be found perfectly situated right on the beach and boasting incredible views. The town offers a number of places of interest for visitors to explore, from the remarkable timber-framed Moot Hall to the unique Martello Tower. The former dates to the mid-17th century and features chimneys identical to those at Hampton Court Palace while the latter is an intriguing defensive tower dating to the early 19th century, which was one of several that no longer survive that were built to defend against an invasion by Napoleon’s forces. The now residential Fort Green Mill windmill was constructed in 1824, but more modern draws can be seen at the beach, which is home to a controversial four-metre high sculpture of a scallop dedicated to composer Benjamin Britten who used to enjoy the beach.other spellings: aldeburghhotels, aldebrugh hotell, aldebergh otel, aldeburg hote, adeburgh hotle
