Introduction to Alcester, England
Situated towards the centre of England, Alcester is a small Warwickshire town of just over 6,000 inhabitants. Its origins can be traced back to the Romans, with history from the period traced in the newly opened Roman Alcester museum, and it boasts an incredibly fascinating history. The great thing about staying in Alcester is its close proximity to other renowned towns and cities, including Stratford-upon-Avon, just eight miles away. The town centre boasts some of the finest hotels in Alcester. The A46 and the A435, which turns into Haydon Way, connect with the town. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of a visit here is discovering the well-preserved Tudor buildings here, most of which sit on or near Malt Mill Lane and Butter Street. In addition to Tudor era edifices are the Georgian era Old Rectory and the 14th century St Nicholas' Church, where Fulke Greville’s grave can be found. Just out of town are the National Trust-protected stately homes of Coughton Court and Ragley Hall.other spellings: alcesterhotels, alcestre hote, alcetser hotell, alecster otel, aclester hotle, alcestr
