It was the area’s potential as a diving destination that initially attracted visitors and for some time Hurghada was the hip place to go scuba diving, the place that only those really ‘in the know’ were familiar with.
Egypt, however, recognised the city’s potential as a viable holiday centre and began developments that were to eventually see a 20-kilometre stretch of beach lined with hotels and resorts and visitors from around the world flocking here. Today, development of the city’s infrastructure continues with new accommodations, restaurants and evening entertainment venues being added every year.
