Bus: buses in Cairo are somewhat chaotic with locals adopting an every-man-for-himself approach to securing their own place on the vehicle when it arrives at the stop. Visitors will find the experience either culturally enlightening or entirely overwhelming but either way, they’ll reach their destination for considerably less than taking a taxi.
Metro: Cairo’s light rail service is one of the best ways of getting around provided your destination is covered by either of its two lines: the first of which runs north to south from Helwan to al-Marg, via Tahrir, and the second runs from north to west from Shubra to Giza. Operating hours are 06:00 till 24:00
