Introduction to Marsa Alam-Qusseir - Coraya Bay
The sheltered and peaceful Coraya Bay has become one of Egypt's most recently discovered Red Sea resorts. Most Coraya Bay hotels overlook the bay's breathtaking turquoise waters and provide tranquil alternatives to the larger Marsa Alam-Qusseir resort, 60kms south. Many accommodations here are equipped with their own spas and are able to organise outdoor activities. This idyllic area is among Egypt's least crowded and most beautiful diving spots. Calm waters stop high waves and strong currents from damaging the reefs at both ends of the bay. Sharks and an unknown Pharaoh's sarcophagus have been spotted at Elphinstone Reef, while olphins swim in the Dolphin House reef. A maximum of 100 divers and 100 snorkellers are allowed to explore this reef each afternoon, with numbers limited to protect these friendly animals. The nearby Aqua Coraya water park is the only one in the region and the tallest of its many thrilling waterslides is a dramatic 40m high.
