Things to do in Egypt
Cairo - tour the world heritage and historic Islamic Cario
Taking a walk through the old Islamic part of Cairo is like stepping back 2,000 years in history where many of the buildings have hardly changed at all, you can do this yourself with a guide book but a guide knows many more places to look and can often help open doors that would otherwise be closed. If time is limited make sure you see the Mosque of Sultan Al-Muayyad or the Complex of Sultan Al-Ghuri
Giza - visit the Sphinx and Pyramids
The temples at Giza and the Sphinx are possible 2 of the most famous tourist attractions in the world and recognized by everyone. Take your time to wander around this large site and explore the different areas as they are opened. Try to avoid midday as the heat can be oppressive with early morning or evening best when there is the light show. Be careful of locals trying to sell you everything from trinkets to camel rides.
Hurghada - view the world class underwater world
Egypt has some of the most stunning diving in the world, especially around Hurghada with fantastic coral reefs and gloriously colourful fish. For the more experienced there are also excellent sites where you can dive on wrecks, some of them many years old. For those that prefer not to see their fish underwater there are numerous opportunities for fishing trips for both standard and game fish.
Sharm El Sheikh - have fun learning how to kite surf
One of the latest crazes is Kite Surfing and this increasingly popular sport is not difficult to learn. In just a few hours the instructors at Sharm el Sheik will have you up and catching the winds as if you had been doing it for years. The beautiful waters around the area also make it a pleasure to learn especially as they are also so warm.
Introduction to Egypt
Egypt is one of the most mystical and historic holiday destinations in the world.

In the north, Lower Egypt is home to the capital, Cairo, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Pyramids of Giza.

Almost all travellers pass through this region, since Cairo hosts the biggest international airport in the country.

As such, it has an incredible range of Egypt hotels to suit all budgets.

The other main accommodation centre is at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where famous resorts such as Sharm el-Sheikh cater to European package tourists and scuba divers.

Further south, the historical centres of Aswan and Luxor appeal to travellers interested in visiting the ancient temples and settlements which are located between the two cities.

Visitors can even join one of the cruises which ply the River Nile, stopping off at a number of temple towns on the way.

Finally, the wilderness of the Western Desert will attract the most adventurous travellers.

Visitors can join a jeep tour across the desert, staying in desert camps and visiting spectacular oases en route.
