Introduction to Giza - City Centre
Giza is an important city in the Greater Cairo region of Egypt. It's important in that it's the closest destination to Pyramids of Giza, one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. Traditionally, visitors have stayed in central Cairo and visited the pyramids on a daytrip. However, increasing numbers of travellers are staying in Giza City Centre hotels instead. These hotels can be expensive but are some of the most comfortable in Cairo. Travellers can get here by taking a taxi from central Cairo. In addition, those with little luggage can also take Metro Line 2. Finally, there are also several buses departing from the airport, Heliopolis and Cairo city centre. It's best to visit the pyramids in the early morning, before the tour buses arrive. It can be difficult to appreciate the beauty of the pyramids in the afternoon crowds. Camel rides are also available but aren't particularly recommended. Horseback riding is a much better way to see the sights.
