Introduction to Cairo - Garden City
Garden City is a pleasant quarter of Cairo, the Egyptian capital city. The district stretches down the east bank of the River Nile. The esplanade along the river is home to several luxury Garden City hotels. The leafy streets leading off the Corniche el-Nil are home to further accommodation establishments. In the area are the city's Modern Life Museum, the Egyptian Parliament and some great architectural gems. In the evening, river cruises and traditional fellucca sailboat tours depart from various points along the Corniche. The river cruises offer dining and live entertainment, including belly dancing. Many of the hotels here have their own bars and restaurants. Cafes sell local delicacies and snacks, and the famed Egyptian coffee. The area is just south of the city's central Tahrir Square, home to the fabulous collections housed in the Egyptian Museum.
