Bahariya Oasis is a wonderful oasis located inland in the north of Egypt. This oasis consists of small villages such as Bawiti. This village is popular with tourists because it is the largest settlement and home to many of the best Bahariya Oasis hotels. The village can be reached easily from the oasis. The best way to reach it is by the fairly modern road that connects to Cairo. There are regular buses that travel to Bahariya Oasis and these can go directly to the largest village. Al-Qast is a neighbouring village which makes for a nice daytrip. This village has some stunning old tombs and is famous for its sulphur springs. This region of Egypt is also famous for the production of delicious olives and dates. You can go on an organised daytrip to one of the farms or just sample the fresh produce in the local restaurants.
