Festivals and Events in Denmark
February Festivals

Fastelavn: this is Denmark’s answer to the popular Carnival festival enjoyed in Germany and is held seven weeks prior to Easter Sunday. Traditionally, the country’s children don costumes and knock on neighbours’ doors for candy.
March/April Festivals

Copenhagen Fashion and Design Festival: held at the end of the month or early in April, this annual event is hosted by the country’s capital city and is a celebration of the country’s finest fashion creations.

NatFilm Festival: is the country’s biggest annual film festival and sees over 150 movie screenings at venues across Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Kolding.
June Festivals

Constitution Day: this national holiday is observed as a celebration of the day in 1849 when the country signed its official constitution. For the older generation it is a day to get together, drink alcoholic beverages and reminisce about old times.
July Festivals

Roskilde Festival: hailed as one of the world of rock-music’s most prestigious events, the Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen is a four-day long event that presents live performances from globally recognised rock artists.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival: this 10-day long event sees a showcase of the talents of both Danish and international jazz performers.
September Festivals

Copenhagen International Film Festival: this 10-day long festival in the country’s capital city sees a choice selection of showings of feature-length movies, documentaries, short-films and animations.
October Festivals

Aarhus Film Festival: another of the large scale film festivals that feature annually in Denmark. Various venues across the city of Aarhus screen a carefully chosen selection of movies and other celluloid offerings.
December Festivals

Christmas: as a country with strong religious values, the Christmas season is embraced by all and sees a mix of entertainment and religious activity.
