Copenhagen Travel Guide - Nightlife

One of the unique aspects of the city’s nightlife is that venues often undergo a metamorphosis of sorts during the course of a night out, so don’t be surprised if you start out having a meal in a restaurant and a DJ comes on the scene, starting to play a set mid-evening.
Bars are typically open until midnight, when the club scene begins; and some bars stay open considerably later. You’ll note that dress codes are not strictly enforced at the city’s venues.
The nightly action at Copenhagen’s clubs tends to start after midnight, but if you’d like an earlier start, there are a number of hip pre-club venues such as Stereo Bar and Ideal Bar, to get you in the mood. In addition, you’ll find that many of the city’s venues change from restaurant to bar to club as the evening develops; the locals call them hybrids.
There’s also a good jazz scene having an established international reputation in Copenhagen, and a selection of excellent rock and blues clubs as well.
