Sonderborg town is the seat of the municipality of the same name, in southern Denmark. Its main attraction is its castle; while not architecturally outstanding, it houses an informative museum that explores the area's culture and history. Also of interest here is the Sandbjerg Estate, the one-time home of the Dukes of Sonderborg and now part of Aarhus University. The most interesting part of the town is the old quarter, located on Als Island, with the rest of the city stretching onto the Jutland mainland. Here, visitors can simply wander the narrow streets on foot to soak up the ambience. Families can pay a visit to Alsion, a science, culture and education park.
