Today part of Hedensted, Juelsminde is a coastal municipality on Jutland's east coast, in Vejle County. Before joining with its westerly neighbour, the municipality spanned over 200 square kilometres and included Hjarno Island, home to a 16th century whitewashed church and a group of 10 stones, known as Kalvestenene, which date from the Viking period. The municipality's one-time population of 15,000 has now united with that of Hedensted to make up a total population of around 50,000. Juelsminde lies roughly 20kms to the east of what is today the municipality's main town, Hedensted. The area is devoid of major tourist attractions, with the quaint Juelsminde Church in the centre of town one of the few sights. Regardless of its lack of sightseeing opportunities, the town makes for a relaxing base for visitors seeking sea breezes, a round of golf or coastal walks. Juelsminde hotels and cabins are on hand for those visitors who wish to overnight here.
