Metro: there are 3 metro lines available in Prague: A line (green); B line (yellow) and C line (red) and they depart every 2 minutes from 5.00 am to 8.00 pm on weekdays. They run every 10 minutes at all other times. Passengers must buy tickets in advance at station ticket machines, most newsagents and at information desks. The tickets are valid for buses and trams as well.
Bus: there is a comprehensive bus and tram network which covers the whole city as well as the nearby suburbs. It is a 24- hour service offering regular routes. Tickets should be bought in advance and are valid for the metro and trams.
Taxi: taxis are notorious in Prague for taking advantage of vulnerable tourists. Usually, a lot of bargaining has to take place before journeys can commence. Some taxi companies have links to organised crime and therefore, it is adviseable not to hail a taxi on the street. Hotels, restaurants and bars will normally know the telephone number for a reputable taxi company.
Officially, licensed taxis will normally have meters and if the driver do not switch it on, it is advisable to look for another one. Be aware however, that many meters have been tampered with, so you cannot guarantee that you will be paying a fair price even when travelling in a taxi with a meter.
