Introduction to Prague - Vinohrady
Elegant and prestigious are two adjectives commonly used to describe the charming historic district of Vinohrady, one of Prague’s most famous addresses. Surrounded by parks, yet still well within the realm of the Czech capital, this is an ideal place to stay if a stately atmosphere is more appealing than the bustle of Prague’s centre. Vinohrady is literally filled with beautiful buildings and homes representing Baroque, neo-Gothic, Art Nouveau and neo-Renaissance architectural style. Wandering its leafy streets provides plenty of old-world ambiance and inspiration, with abundant cafes and shops to stop at along the way. At its heart is Peace Square, where a theatre and the iconic Saint Ludmila Church can be found. There are several parks and gardens here as well, including the massive Riegrovy Park, with its awesome views towards Prague Castle, and the wooded Havlockovy Park, which is home to the grand Villa Grobe. Both parks have excellent walking paths, benches and other natural highlights. Vinohrady hotels are conveniently connected to the rest of the capital and its myriad attractions by tram and metro.
