Introduction to Prague - Hradcany
Prague Castle, said to be the largest castle in the world, is located in the Hradcany district of the Czech capital. Elevated above the centre of Prague, this castle which was built over 1,000 years ago and it contains four palaces, four churches, three halls and a large garden area surrounding it. Entry into most of these areas is possible, although to visit some places in the castle, payment is required. The whole castle area is surrounded by one of Prague's most elegant parks, which has walking paths, restaurants and secluded spots to look down on the rest of the city. There are also some palaces located throughout the area that used to belong to former Czech nobility but are now open to tourists. Hradcany has a large area to play sports and is the home of one of Prague's largest football teams. Hradcany hotels are generally quite expensive although there are a few hostels.Visit our Prague Travel Guide
