Pisek is a town of 30,000 people in the southwest of the Czech Republic. The town is home to the oldest stone bridge in the Czech Republic, which is in fact one of the two oldest in Central Europe. The bridge spans the Otava River and offers an almost flawless view of the town. The bridge, built in the 1260s, is undoubtedly the town's biggest attraction. Yet the town is also well-known among visiting tourists for its historical town centre, where houses built in a 19th century neo-style can be found. The town centre has been well-preserved and retains a unique atmosphere. Other architecture worth seeing is located in the town's main square, where the Town Hall is home to Pisek's museum. Staying on the square, guests can also visit the Gothic Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, whose tall tower dominates the town's skyline. Travellers can get to Pisek hotels by taking a bus from Prague's Na Knizeci Station. This journey should take around two hours.
