Located in Bohemia in the west of the Czech Republic, Karlovy Vary is a charming spa town featuring eccentric architecture and an idyllic water channel that runs through the centre. The town is most famous for its hot springs, which draw visitors from the surrounding area, the most popular of which is Open Air Thermal Pool, which includes other facilities such as a sauna. There are also hot geysers here and 12 springs in total. Karlovy Vary city centre is easily covered on foot, the best way to take in the many old houses and churches that are largely responsible for its appeal. A good view of the town can be had at Diana Lookout Tower, accessed by a funicular railway or picturesque walk through the forest. Karlovy Vary City Centre hotels are mostly top-end but there is other cheaper accommodation available including guesthouses and nearby campsites.
