Acropolis of ancient Kition: features impressive gold, bronze and ivory tombs from the 13th century and remain of Aphrodite’s and Heracles’ temples.
Kition Archeological Site: boasts many archeological finds including the Phoenician Temple of Ashtarte and the original Kition city stone walls. Kition is believed to have been founded by Mycenaean traders in the 13th century.
District Museum: displays a comprehensive collection of relics, some of which date back thousands of years. Early tools, coins, lamps and ceramics are on display as well as a collection of everyday items from the Romans.
Larnaca Castle: was converted from a prison during the British rule into a fascinating archeological museum with an emphasis on ancient Kition. Tourists can enjoy impressive views of the Scala Quarter and Buyuk Kebir Cami mosque. Those with a bad sense of direction should be careful as the museum was built like a labyrinth.
Beach: beaches are plentiful in and around the city. Unspoiled and fully-equipped, beaches in Larnaca offer clear waters and a wide range of facilities to accommodate beach loungers. The most popular are McKenzie and Dhekelia beaches. A variety of water sports are also on offer.
Lefkara: located in the Troodos hills and is famous for handmade lace and fine filigree work. The village itself is lovely, with narrow cobbled streets and old charming buildings. There’s also a small folklore museum.
