Introduction to Polis - Beach
Close to the stunning Akamas peninsula, Polis is a quiet beach resort in the middle of Chrysochous Bay. The beach here is superb and so too is the seafood, which mostly comes in from nearby Latsi, a fishing village famous for its traditional fish taverns and boat rides. While most visitors spend the majority of their time swimming or enjoying water sports at the beach, the resort offers a few worthwhile diversions. For a detailed look at the history of the town, head to the Museum of Marion, which traces the area's past right back to the Neolithic era. In Greek legend, Polis was where Aphrodite would meet her lover, Adonis. The Baths of Aphrodite are a must-see, not least for the surrounding amazing scenery of the Akamas Peninsula surely one of the most beautiful spots on the island. The views here stretch across the rolling hills to the sea and are certainly worth the hike. Polis Beach hotels have grown in number in recent years because of the major attractions nearby but prices remain reasonable for those that search out the best deals.
