The city of Paphos, Cyprus, is located on the Mediterranean island’s west coast and is popular with visitors for its beaches and historical buildings. Many visitors to the city stay in the centre, close to the main sights and attractions such as the catacombs and traditional Cypriot restaurants. Hotels in Paphos are usually located close to the beaches and the famous old town that dates back to ancient Greek times. Both areas can be reached using public transport. The main historical site in the city is Paphos Archaeological Park, where the House of Theseus and the House of Dionysos are located. These Roman villas offer some of the finest mosaics on the island, and indeed in the region. Also not to be missed is the Tombs of the Kings, where many aristocrats are buried in elaborate tombs.
