Introduction to Kyrenia - Beach
Kyrenia is a historic town and contemporary seaside resort on the northern Turkish coast of Cyprus. There is a varied selection of hotels in Kyrenia allowing visitors to choose something that will suit their taste and pocket. The Kyrenia hotels along the golden beaches are convenient for swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing or dining at waterside eateries. Nearby are the old harbour, the Byzantine-era Kyrenia Castle, Bellapais Abbey and a religious icon museum. The atmospheric harbour is lined with old buildings fronted by al fresco cafe terraces that look out over the masts of pleasure craft. Boat trips along the coast depart from this harbour, while cruise boats and ferries to mainland Turkey leave from the new port outside town. Behind the harbour a maze of narrow streets has shops selling souvenirs such as Ottoman mirrors, wood carvings, ceramics, basketry and silverware.
