Agia Napa is first mentioned in written accounts in the latter half of the 14th century, most particularly in regard to the shipwreck of a number of Venetian ships that were loaded with valuable goods stolen from Cyprus at that time. The next mention occurs two centuries later, again in Venetian documents, and also maps of the late 16th century.
