Introduction to Holguin, Cuba
Holguin is small historical city in northeast Cuba. It is around 10kms inland from the country's Atlantic coastline. Holguin dates from the 16th century and contains numerous architectural gems, parks, restaurants and bars. Hotels in Holguin are located in the environs of the city centre's main Calixto Garcia Square. Tourist attractions such as San Jose Church, the Provincial Art Centre and La Periquera Museum are within easy range of the central hotels in Holguin. The central area contains parks and plazas ringed by attractive colonial structures. Ornate statues are dotted around. Climbing the 400 plus steps up Loma de la Cruz hill provides panoramic views of the city and its surroundings.
