Introduction to Split - Podstrana
Podstrana is a former farming community on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The community was well-known for growing peaches, but it now attracts high-end tourists who stay at luxury hotels in Split. The community, located around seven miles from Split city centre, is part of Split’s Dalmatia coast. It is best known for its luxury accommodation, but mid-range lodgings offer less flush guests the opportunity to enjoy this part of Croatia’s beautiful coastline. One of the draws of visiting this coastal destination is the authentic Croatian food and drink served at local bars and restaurants. Split Airport is around 30 minutes from Podstrana, to the east of the city. Alternatively, travellers can get to the port in Split by ferry from Italy. Split’s ancient centre is an excellent daytrip from Podstrana’s beaches.
