Introduction to Rijeka - City Centre
Croatia's main seaport and third-biggest city, Rijeka lies on the country's Adriatic coast on Kvarner Bay. It's a city that serves as much as a transport hub to the rest of the country as it does a tourism destination in its own right, but that doesn't mean there is a shortage of things to see and do here. The National Theatre in Rijeka city centre competes with similar more famous rivals in both Zagreb and the Hungarian capital of Budapest, while the Maritime Museum and the pedestrian precinct of Korzo represent must-see additions to any tourist itinerary here. After dark the city comes into its own. Rijeka City Centre hotels are mostly clustered in the most pleasant seafront area in and around the streets of Riva and Adamiceva and close to two parks, Kazalisni and Vladimira Nazora. There are good high-end options in this area and the odd hostel for those on a tight budget.
