Introduction to Rijeka - Beach
The biggest port in Croatia as well as the country's third-largest city, Rijeka on Kvarner Bay features a number of good Adriatic beaches on its eastern and western peripheries. Pecine is an excellent option for visitors who want to stay close to the centre of the city and the ferry pier, with its connections to the likes of Split. A little farther to the south of the city centre, Kostrena is another good option, with a number of fine bays and beaches. Roman ruins have been discovered at this idyllic spot for walking. A winding walkway follows the rocky coastline and gets hilly in places. By car, most beaches are only half an hour away from the centre of Rijeka, where there are sights including an old Roman arch and a cathedral. Rijeka Beach hotels vary significantly given the number of different bays but you can't go wrong around idyllic Kostrena.
